This Terms of Use and Policy is effective as of June 1st, 2019.
CauseMe ("us", "we", or "our") operates the public instances of CauseMe, including https://causeme.uv.es, http://causeme.net and http://www.causeme.net (herafter referred to as the CauseMe websites or CauseMe platforms). This document only applies to these sites, not to other instances. The CauseMe websites are administered by Universitat de València and maintained by members of the Universitat de València (Spain) and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), Germany.
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that State or location. By accessing the CauseMe websites, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing these sites. The materials contained in these websites are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. Use license: Permission is granted to temporarily download one copy of the materials (information, data or software) on CauseMe's website for personal, non-commercial transitory work only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title, and under this license you may not:
Modify the materials;
Use the materials for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial);
Attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer any software or database creation contained on CauseMe websites;
Remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the materials; or

This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by CauseMe at any time. Limitations, permitted and prohibited uses: User may not use the CauseMe websites to violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law:
User may not upload or transmit any material that infringes or misappropriates any person's copyright, patent, trademark, or trade secret, or disclose via the CauseMe websites any information the disclosure of which would constitute a violation of a confidentiality obligation on User's part. You agree that you will not use the platform in a way that violates any law, regulation, the intellectual property or privacy and data protection rights, or any other rights of anyone else.
User may not upload any viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other forms of harmful computer code, nor subject CauseMe network or servers to unreasonable traffic loads, or otherwise engage in conduct deemed disruptive to the ordinary operation of CauseMe websites.
User may not attempt to obtain the password, account, or other security information from any other user; violate the security of any computer network, or cracks any passwords or security encryption codes; run Maillist, Listserv, any form of auto-responder or “spam” on the platform, or any processes that run or are activated while you are not logged in, or that otherwise interfere with the proper working of the site (including by placing an unreasonable load on the site infrastructure).
User may not «Crawl,» «scrape,» or run «spiders» in any page, data, or portion of or relating to the CauseMe platform or Content (through use of manual or automated means).
User may not store any significant portion of the Content, as well as decompilation, reverse-engineering, or otherwise attempts to obtain the source code or underlying ideas or information of or relating to the platform are not permitted.
User is strictly prohibited from communicating on or through this site any unlawful, harmful, offensive, threatening, abusive, libelous, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, fraudulent, sexually explicit, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable material of any sort, including, but not limited to, any material that encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
In no event shall CauseMe or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on CauseMe's website, even if CauseMe or a CauseMe authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you.
User Submissions and Accounts:
CauseMe does not want to receive confidential or proprietary information from a User through this site.
Any material, information, or other communication a user transmits or posts to the CauseMe websites will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary and CauseMe websites will be under no obligation of any kind with respect to such information.
Universitat de València and DLR under joint agreement will be free to reproduce, make derivative works from, use, disclose, and distribute the Communications to others without limitation. Universitat de València and DLR jointly may provide authorship attribution by listing User's name. You grant Us the licence to use your submissions, which does not affect your ownership of submissions.
You may not sign up for more than one CauseMe account. You also may not select a username that you don’t have the right to use, or another person’s name. If we believe that you are using more than one CauseMe username, we may remove your account from the platform without notice.
Any submission of results, methods, or model data on the CauseMe platform is the sole responsibility of the person from whom such content originated, and you access all such information and content at your own risk. We aren’t liable for any errors or omissions in that information or content or for any damages or loss you might suffer in connection with it.
User Profile and Password: User agrees to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information when registering with the CauseMe website. It is User's responsibility to maintain and promptly update this account information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete. If User provides any information that is fraudulent, untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or not current, or we have reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is fraudulent, untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or not current, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice and to refuse any and all current and future use of this site (see Termination section below).
Although sections of the site may be viewed simply by visiting the site, in order to access some Content and/or additional features offered at the site, you may need to register. If you create an account on the site, you may be asked to supply your name, organization, a User ID and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account and are fully responsible for all activities that occur in connection with your password or account. You agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of either your password or account or any other breach of security. You further agree that you will not permit others, including those whose accounts have been terminated, to access this site using your account or User ID. You grant us and all other persons or entities involved in the operation of the CauseMe websites the right to transmit, monitor, retrieve, store, and use your information in connection with the operation of CauseMe websites and in the provision of services to you. Indemnification: User agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Universitat de València and DLR, their employees, directors, officers, affiliated companies, agents, vendors or suppliers from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from or related to your use or misuse of the CauseMe websites, including, without limitation, User's violation of these Terms and Conditions, the infringement by User, or any other subscriber or user of your account, of any intellectual property right or other right of any person or entity.

Universitat de València disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property. If User is dissatisfied with the CauseMe websites, their content, or any of these terms, conditions, and policies, User's sole legal remedy is to discontinue using these websites. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to and use of these websites, or parts of these websites, without notice, if we believe, in our sole discretion, that such use is (i) in violation of any applicable law; (ii) is harmful to our interests or the interests, including intellectual property or other rights, of another person or entity; or (iii) where we have reason to believe that User is in violation of these Terms and Conditions of Use.
Competitions hosted on CauseMe: All terms also apply to competitions hosted on the CauseMe platform. These competitions may involve monetary prizes and payment of such prizes may be restricted to bank accounts in certain countries, due to government legislations. In addition, competition organizers and members of the research groups that organize the competition cannot compete for the monetary prizes.
Changes To This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use: This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use is effective as of June 1st, 2019 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use at any time and you should check this page periodically. Your continued use of the CauseMe websites after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
General: At CauseMe, accessible from https://causeme.uv.es and http://www.causeme.net, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by CauseMe and how we use it. Our websites comply with all ES and EU laws and requirements for user privacy. Information Collection: We may use your User Information to contact you with newsletters and updates about new features of the CauseMe website(s). Like many site operators, we collect information (Log Data) that your browser sends whenever you visit the CauseMe websites. This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser version, the pages that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. In addition, we may use third party services, such as Squarespace or Google Analytics, that collect, monitor and analyze usage. Like for many sites, we use «cookies» to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. CauseMe follows a standard procedure of using log files. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for administering the site.
Like any other website, CauseMe uses «cookies». These cookies are only used to store information about the visitors' login access. You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options.
When you create an account, you provide us with personal information that includes your email address and a password. We also collect the content you upload.
The information that CauseMe obtains about a User on its website is used for non-commercial purposes. Such information includes the name and e-mail address of the User, which the User may voluntarily decide to provide. You may opt out receiving email from the platform and its administrators by contacting us (info@causeme.net). According to the «Ley Orgánica 3/2018 – Dec. 5th» on personal data privacy protection and digital rights («Protección de datos de caracter personal y garantía de derechos digitales»), you have the right to access the information as well as to rectify and delete data that concerns you personally on this site. In case of dispute, the Spanish law will apply. To exercise this right, please contact us.
If you use our Contact Us page then the personal information (name, email and the message) are simply emailed to us and, other than the email, this information is not stored or otherwise processed or retained. Your personal information is only used to respond to your query. We will not pass this information onto third-parties. The personal information is stored and processed in the EU and/or where we and our third-party email provider maintains facilities, which may be overseas. By providing us with your personal information, you consent to the disclosure to our email provider. We have a contract in place that requires our email provider to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes.
If we or our assets are acquired, we would include data among the assets transferred to any parties who acquire us. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any parties who acquire us may continue to use your personal information according to this policy.
We will comply with government and law enforcement requests for data, as required by law, in connection with any actual or prospective legal proceedings, or in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.
We regularly review our retention periods for personal information and only hold such information for as long as necessary for the relevant activity (or until such time as you request that we delete your information).
